Another Brexit Delay by Theresa May

16 Apr 2019

Theresa May, concerning the decision to delay the UK's exit from the EU has told MPs that it remains her "priority" to deliver Brexit.

The new deadline of 31st of October the UK is expected to have to hold European Parliament elections in May.

An important point to be mentioned is that Brexit was originally set to happen on the 29th of March. However, after MPs continually rejected Mrs. May's withdrawal agreement with the EU, the first extension shifted that date to 12th of April. Now the country must take part in European elections on 23rd of May.

If the Parliament can't agree on a deal soon and the UK does not take part in the European elections on 23rd of May then a no-deal Brexit would happen as a result the UK to leave the EU on 1st of June.

The prime minister mentioned that if the deal agreed with the EU was passed, the UK could leave the EU "as soon as possible". Also, the delay has been characterized by Jeremy Corbyn a “Diplomatic Failure”.

Moreover, the prime minister assured to pursue an "orderly" Brexit, adding that the "whole country" was "frustrated".

As we can understand, up until now, Theresa May has simply been unable to deliver the support for her compromise deal with the EU.

We've all lived an important and crucial historic political period where the levels of frustration and anxiety have increased in Westminster, and maybe beyond.

Looking forward to hearing Theresa May’s Brexit plans from now on, in order to be aware of what will happen next…
